About Bryn Mawr College

Bryn Mawr College is a women's liberal arts college located in Bryn Mawr, which is a census-designated place Lower Merion Township, in Montgomery County, in the US state of Pennsylvania, with a population of nearly 4400 inhabitants, at the time of the 2000 census estimate.

The college was established in 1885 and gets its name from the town of Bryn Mawr, which had been named by a representative of the Pennsylvania Railroad, who found the name in some old records. It presently offers its students a number of 36 majors and 38 minors, its mission being `to provide a rigorous education and to encourage the pursuit of knowledge as preparation for life and work.`

Athletics

Bryn Mawr's athletic teams are known as the Owls and they compete in NCAA Division III, with 12 varsity teams. Their distinctive colors are yellow and white.
